In 1976 Norman Goldman and Howard Sloan opened a commercial law practice in Toronto. Over the next fifty years it became Goldman Sloan Nash & Haber LLP: a firm whose lawyers taught the Bar Admission Course, sat on the editorial boards of the law reports, earned the Law Society Medal, and were ranked among the best in the country for twenty consecutive years.
On October 1, 2026, in its fiftieth year, that firm became part of KSI Law. Not a brand licensed or a name borrowed, but the practice itself: the counsel, the client relationships, the files and the standards. The founding partner still practises here. The managing partner who led the firm into its fifth decade still practises here. What changed is the platform beneath them. What did not change is everything that earned the record above.
Patience, year by year.
Built by people who are still here.

Y. Jay Baykara built KSI Law from his own practice into a firm of more than one hundred people in a decade, on one conviction: the client's success defines the firm's. The institutions he admires most are the ones that treated their history as the asset and modernized only the way people reach it. That is the brief he set for 2026. Chapter Law joined on May 1. Goldman Sloan Nash & Haber joined on October 1. In each case the counsel stayed, the client relationships stayed, and what arrived was the platform: audited security, live reporting, one documented way of working.
His own record is the reason the stewardship is credible: a decade before every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, a Lexpert Lawyer to Watch, and a seat on the Legal Committee of the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association. What comes next is a service model built to last: one firm, one platform, one standard of care, from the founding partner's first client in 1976 to the next one who calls tomorrow.
A name can be new. Judgment cannot. The lawyers who answer your call have argued before every level of court in the country, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and have done so under a firm name that institutional lenders, developers and sureties have trusted since 1976. What KSI Law adds is the platform: audited security, live reporting, and a way of working that is documented and measured. The heritage is the proof. The platform is the promise.
